Following up the release of Lazy Ants "Low Profile" earlier this year, we spoke to the main man himself to find out his favourite tunes from recent memory and he certainly did not disappoint with his selections.
Born in Fiuggi, but based in Rome for 15 years, Filippo Fiorini (aka Lazy Ants) started with music production before storming the capital’s nightclub scene. He then began producing remixes for artists such as Congorock, the Crookers and Kubo. Since then he has worked with producers such as SwitchShortly thereafter he released his first EP for Southern Fried containing "Na Ciphra", a tune used by the legend Fatboy Slim to remix "Bust 'em up" by The Crookers. . His passion for electro is imbued with many other genres, mainly hip hop. He released the remix of the hit song "I'm in love with the Coco" by O.T GENASIS with DJ Stabber, released on Atlantic Records. He also works with italian rapper Guè Pequeno on his album title track "Vero", released by Universal Music and Def Jam Recordings.
Vinyl Junkie & Sanxion - Mustard
The first time I heard this song was in a Miss Kittin DJ set. I really like the breakbeat groove in this tune. In my sets I always used to mashup techno tracks with some breakbeat ones. The 90's piano is lovely as well.
Tessela - Nancy's Pantry
I am a big fan of every Tessela production. The drop is just insane. I like this tune also because you can mix it with whatever you want, from techno to other genres.
Nathan Fake - 'DEGREELESSNESS feat. Prurient'
This song is from the last Natan Fake album. In my honest opinion, this is one of the best albums of 2016. It's a mix of IDM and techno with a maniacal care of the sound's aesthetic.
Mark Broom - One Sound
This tune is pure techno. I play a lot of Mark Broom tracks, I like the dirty but detailed sound design.
Flux - True Feelings
I discovered this track in one of the best DJ sets I ever heard. It was Ellen Allien at WIRE festival in Japan. It's a classic from 1992. Old but gold.
