Junction Records label-boss Cool Tiger steps up for this week's Selections picking out a few gems from his record bag. After a very strong year for the label, the French-producer will soon launch his latest project, Junction White, a sister imprint focused on more dance floor oriented tracks. The new label will kick off in style with the main man himself taking the reigns for JCTW001.

Jonas Kopp - Reforce (Jerome Sydrhem Special Edit)

Jonas Kopp and Jerome Sydenham  are such a great combo! I have been following each and every release of the former and regularly buy EPs from Apotheek, the latter’s label. It’s really the kind of techno I enjoy, dark but quite groovy at the same time.

Mella Dee - Music Controls You

This is typically why more people should go to record shops to look for music. This dancefloor killer got released as a very limited white label on Mella Dee’s new label Warehouse Music. Such a gem, why would anyone want to miss it?

Accronym - Yggdradil

Excellent peak-time track when you play in a WW2 bunker. I appreciate the simplicity of the arrangement and the width of the sound. Also works for your wedding and bar mitzvah (maybe).

Truncate - 7_1

I am a real fan of Truncate’s work. He always manages to balance groove and power, simplicity and efficiency over relatively short tracks. I have been digging in his discography and it’s incredibly consistent in sounds and quality. He has been inspiring me a lot for my label Junction Records.

Manni Dee - Confront Yourself

This track appears on the latest EP of THEM records, a label set up by the owner of Container Records in Brixton, London. If you haven’t checked the label, you should do it now, for its unique vibe and blend of techno with breakbeat. And if you haven’t been to Container Records, this should be on the top of your list next time you visit London. Small shop, big sounds.

UnCut - Beneath (Oscar Mulero Remix 3)

I often play this track after an hour of jacking techno tracks. This is a great transition toward more mental, deeper music. The focus goes from the body to the mind, or at least this is how I see it. It’s a greatly produced remix full of delays and reverb out on the SUB TL label from Spain.

Nina Kraviz - Pochuvstvui

I do enjoy Nina’s DJ sets, but I don’t really understand the massive hype around them. However, I believe she is very underrated as a producer. I am feeling quite close to her minimalist, groovy approach in her techno. I also strongly support her label Trip which I find consistent sonically and quality-wise.

Sagats & Madi Grein - Loving You

One of my secret House weapons, released on the beloved Housewax label. This EP is full of analog goodness and catchy melodies. At first, this song sounds like a chill-out lo-fi house track but rapidly turns into an epiphanic anthem.

Roza Roza - --

A masterpiece of lo-fi melodic house music from the Mörk label. Calm, beauty and harmony land on this world as soon as you play it. Very prophylactic.

Unknown - Untitled (WLSLTD03 - B2)

Another lo-fi masterpiece out on the beloved Wilson Records. I believe all tracks at Wilson are passed through some tube amps and tape machines to get the warmest distortion on Earth. I hope I’ll be able one day to close a set with this track at 8:30 am with the rising sun in the background.
